RMR Opening Day

Representing Atagge at the RMR Opening Day
Florence and Ellie
Simon, and the white reason for the smiling faces.

Smiles, sprays, high-fives and good times. I'm looking forward to get some better pictures during the season, but there has been no time for a shooting today.

The Hostel pt. II

Some words; the philosophy of the SameSun Hostels.
THE STAFF

Simon (the manager), Florence and Ellie are missing, but there is (from left to right):
Maddie, Ella, Flo, Alice, some stranger who sneaked into the pic, Lisa, Twyla (the owner) with her baby on her arms and Mick (her husband).
Thanks to Simon for taking the picture and Twyla for the pizzas.
Ella, Maddie and Flo.
I guess Ella is wondering about the meaning of Flo's weird gang-sign.
And that seems to be the proper canadian way to study ...

More Hiking

On Saturday, Flo and his friend Craig headed out to Sale Mountain, to look for some shredable snow. I went with them, of course.
The lake behind the Revelstoke Dam with its parkinglot. Turned out as a spot for sled-heads.
So we hiked up the sled-track for about two hours ...
... and rode it back down.
Beers and sandwiches, and lots of fun!
That's what it looks like above the clouds. Flo took this picture last week while he was trained as a lifty. Can't wait to get up there!

First Time Splitboarding

Some days ago, I met this guy at the pool:
After an exhausting jumping session we spent some minutes at the sauna and talked about a preseason-skiing-session.
A few days later, Cal and I went (on bikes, as you can see above) straight into ...

... the woods ...
... looking for some powder. All we found was some snow to ski hard.
Nine days left till the resort opening day. There are tons of snow lying up there, waiting to get slashed. And even though we couldn't get high enough to get some powder under our feet, we did have fun. Remember:

"If you don't have fun, you ain't doing it right."

Winter is coming ...

Last friday, I walked along the river to this little bridge ...
... and checked out a very decent spot for my summer vacation.
Same bridge, but on sunday.
The view on friday ...
... and again two days later.
left: Flo - middle: Florence - right: Ella
This three fellows (also staying and working at the Same Sun hostel) joined me doing the same walk two days later. As you can see, the scenery changed a little bit and some people here are getting pretty excited about this white stuff.

New Toy

Skis !?
Nope. The first SMOKIN splitboard, I guess.

The Hostel

The Hostel, where I am working and staying right now.
The hostel again, at the right side.

The staff kitchen ...
... and living room.
My office; kind of.
Our crib.
Our crib again. Flo has some serious business going on and the wolf is howling louder than our roomie's xBox. Someone called it the "best place of the hostel" these days; apparently this (best) place is on top of my very personal (shining) crib.
My personal territory. I know the wall looks pretty dull. But just for now ...

Revy again

Life is pretty relaxed here; at least for me at the moment. The resort opening is at November the 30th, so there is not much to do except some working and chillin' ...
But if the weather is ok, I am out there. A few days ago, we went on a little hike up to the Nels Nelson Historical Ski Jump.
Revelstoke's skyline, on the way up

Columbia River and Mt Mac Pherson, the view from the ski jumping area
Flo, Alice and me. One third of the Same Sun Hostel Staff.
It's snowing and getting colder every day and the base depth on the mountains is over 70cm high now!
